Election 2012: Shane Davidson — Sharing fit lifestyle with his wife
Being able to spend more time with his wife of 21 years and getting in better physical shape was all the motivation Shane Davidson needed to make a commitment to healthy living.
The board of trustee candidate for the Abilene Independent School District said he and his wife, Amy, had been active but not consistent in their fitness.
As the couple with two teenage boys approached last fall, there was a question whether they should continue using their trainer.
“I was skeptical, but agreed to try it for a month,” said Davidson, Hardin-Simmons University’s vice president for enrollment and marketing management. “Well, almost 10 months later, I’m still at it. We changed our eating habits and work out five to six days a week for a minimum of 45 minutes. Now, people that know me know I was a three to four Dr Pepper-drinker a day. I’m proud to say I haven’t had a Dr Pepper in 10 months!”
Davidson and his wife, who teaches at Fannin Elementary, have been able to hold each other accountable for working out. Their commitment has paid off as each of them have lost more than 20 pounds each.
