Buddy Roemer is the best talker in the presidential election campaign. He relies on the dissatisfaction of the American public toward politicians. In essence, his strategy is to attack everyone in politics and the whole system and then have the public presume that he will be able to fix it. He condemns politics in order to present himself as someone different -- an honest politician.

The trick Mr. Roemer uses is to attack the system for its obvious and undoubted deficits. That is like betting the sun will rise tomorrow. He can't lose. The real question is not whether there should be campaign finance reform. The question is whether Buddy is the man who can and will fix it. To answer that question, we need to look at his history to learn if he really was as good a congressman and governor as he claims.

Mr. McMahan accepts everything Buddy says as true. That is a dangerous assumption when dealing with a politician. Let's look at the record.

Roemer just says he is an honest politician who cannot be bought. His actions speak with greater honesty than his words. He is seeking the nomination of Americans Elect because he wants to be bought. AE is a secret organization controlled by unknown big money donors who have an agenda. We do not know who they are or what agenda they intend. They have the control of the Americans Elect from behind the curtain. They can override the public internet "supporters." They may also control the counting and the reporting of the AE vote. This appears to be a set-up job with Roemer's mentor Lessig on the Board. Go to irregulartimes.com and look at their articles on Americans Elect.

Roemer talks against corruption and argues for transparency, then seeks the AE nomination, effectively using AE's $20 - $30 million financed by unknown donors to launch his campaign. He limits contributions to $100 because he does not need it. AE will provide the funds.

Roemer did the same thing in the past. In 1991 he was such a bad governor that he could not hope to be re-elected as a Democrat, so he cut a deal with the Republican party to switch to Republican if they would finance his campaign. See this history:
http://www.salon.com/2011/03/03/roemer_duke_president/

In 1987 he won election because he could mesmerize the crowd with his preacher-like talk condemning corrupt politics. But once elected, he did not have a clue how to govern. His personality is that of a loner, a curmudgeon, damning the world with such passion and skill using his "Buddy Talk." See this fascinating history as to how he struggled to try to figure out what to do as governor.
http://www.hamiltonmixon.com/Ballad.pdf

He turned out to be one of the worst governors in Louisiana history. He could not get along with people. He could not put together a competent staff. He lacked the political common sense and ability to pass legislation. He did not work hard and seemed to love the adoration of his campaign followers but had no ability to govern. To see Buddy's ineffective record as governor and congressman look at this excellent history of Louisiana's governors, pages 259-268:
http://books.google.com/books?id=Y-0-kmu4vk0C&pg=PA259&lpg=PA259&dq=%22Often+wrong,%22+Roemer&source=bl&ots=GXt38E_jVv&sig=poXJMn9QbCUESjDIP2-foOb3YLY&hl=en&sa=X&ei=n-xjT7CXDOORiQL8n_SiDw&ved=0CGMQ6AEwCA#v=onepage&q=%22Often%20wrong%2C%20but%20never%20in%20doubt%22%20Roemer&f=false

As a congressman he was inept. He chaired no committees and did not author any significant legislation. His only accomplishment in Congress was that he won money at poker. Yes, he was a convincing bluffer.
A NY Times article from 1987 describes Mr. Roemer's record in his eight years in Congress.
http://www.nytimes.com/1987/06/10/us/washington-talk-avocations-networking-at-the-poker-table.html?pagewanted=all&src=pm

Mr. Roemer plans to use his same technique again if he returns to Washington as President. Note his statement in this article, the fourth paragraph from the end, beginning with "If elected,":
http://www.postandcourier.com/news/2011/nov/01/roemer-attacks-political-corruption/
He says he "would emphasize listening and working in a bipartisan way, through poker games." Incredible!!

Most of the things Buddy says about his past are false. See this web page where he obtained a reputation in Louisiana for mendacity (that continues to today).
http://www.first-draft.com/2011/09/rubberband-man.html

A PPP poll of Louisiana voters, just released, shows that here in his own home state he has the worst rating of any candidate for president. Two out of three of the people who know him best have an unfavorable opinion of him. (28% favorable, 56% unfavorable). He is Louisiana's UNfavorite son. See http://race42012.com/2012/03/23/poll-watch-ppp-d-louisiana-2012-republican-primary-survey/

Americans have been deceived by slick politicians in the past. Let's try to investigate what candidates have done rather than gullibly accept what they say. Buddy Roemer will not withstand that scrutiny.

Mr. McMahon is a true believer of everything Buddy Roemer says. He has not sought to verify those statements. Sadly, Mr. Roemer is not reliable.

Buddy Roemer is clearly the best public speaker of any candidate. I was a solid supporter and donor until he switched to Americans Elect. Then I became suspicious and did my homework to learn more about him.

In the first place, Americans elect is exactly the big money donors that Buddy rants against. They have set up a system that would allow them, secretly, from behind the curtain, not only to influence the president, but to pick him. They will not pick him unless he will do their bidding. To learn about it, go to irregulartimes.com and search for Americans Elect articles.

Buddy has a history of attacking corruption and big money influence and then grabbing it when he can. In 1991 he switched from Democrat to Republican because the Republican party offered to finance his re-election campaign as governor. See this website:
http://www.salon.com/2011/03/03/roemer_duke_president/

Roemer now gives a false story as to why he switched parties in 1991. He claims he switched from Democrat to Republican because Louisiana was only a one-party, Democrat, state. He wanted to make Louisiana a two-party state. He claims he did it for the good of the people. This is a lie. It was already a two-party state and previously had a Republican governor (Treen 1980-1984). He did it for the large Republican party financing.

Buddy Roemer's talent as a speaker does not help him to accomplish anything once he has been elected. He was one of the worst governors in Louisiana history. He could not get along with people, put together a competent staff, or pass legislation. He loves the adoration of his campaign followers, like Mr. McMahon, but has no desire or ability to govern. To see Buddy's failing record look at this excellent history of LA's governors, pages 259-268:
Google: Louisiana Governors Cowan Buddy Roemer, often wrong
Then click on the first choice that directs to books.google.com...

That book also states that Buddy switched parties to receive big donations of the Republican party in 1991 and then tried again to be re-elected in 1995 in a "lavishly-financed campaign."

As a congressman he was inept. He chaired no committees and did not author any significant legislation. His only accomplishment in Congress was that he won money at poker. Yes, he was a convincing bluffer. See page 12 at http://www.hamiltonmixon.com/Ballad.pdf

When asked recently how he would open up communication in Washington as president, Roemer answered that he "would emphasize listening and working in a bipartisan way, through poker games." Incredible!!

Most of the things Buddy says about his past are false. See this web page where he obtained a reputation in Louisiana for mendacity.
http://www.first-draft.com/2011/09/rubberband-man.html

Roemer claims he always balanced the budget in his one term as governor. False. He ran out of money and had to borrow to pay the expenses, issuing government bonds to place the deficit burden on future administrations. He held up state payroll checks at the end of the year so the checks would be paid out of the money for the subsequent year. See the book on the history of Louisiana's governors.

Buddy fabricates a conspiracy theory as to why he was not invited to any debate. The debates were run by the networks and they set the rules, not the Republican party. The networks announced that the candidates must have received only 1% at least on several national polls (as the debates went on, they increased the thresholds). Buddy claims he had 4% or 5% on national polls and they still would not let him on. The truth is that he never received anything close to 1% on any national poll. He did not meet the minimum reasonable standards. If he had 4%, he would have been on all the debates.

He claims that he did not do well in polls because he was not on any debate. Not true. In New Hampshire he campaigned exclusively for over 3 months, face-to-face in long personal talks to the voters all around the state. That is better than a debate. It is the most powerful "retail politics." He spent over $100K on ads. He appeared on radio and TV interviews. His showing was a politician's worst disgrace, at the very bottom of the pack, lower than others who were not even running. He received only 4 votes out of a 1000.

As a Louisiana political commentator quipped, in typical bayou style:
“Buddy Roemer, who has been out of politics for 19 years, couldn't win an election as a dogcatcher in Louisiana, much less the Presidency of the United States."
http://www.337post.com/yoyo/110309-roemer.html

I do not think he would be a good president. I do not think he could be elected.

Buddy Roemer is the leading declared candidate at Americans Elect, right now. I recommend you check him out. He man grew up on a cotton farm, then went to Harvard at the age of 16 (!). He was a conservative, "bolweevil" Democrat who voted on Reagan's side alot, so he was a natural to switch over to the Republican party (though, he came from what- at the time- was a HEAVILY Democratic state). Yet, in the "wild 'n wooly world of 1991 Louisiana politics" the Republican voters nominated David Duke over sitting-governor Roemer (Duke, then lost to former gov. Edwards). Then, Edwards was sent to prison for criminal political activity- I'm guessing the voters statewide wished that they still had had Roemer.

Today, the "bought and paid for" Demican and Republocrat parties are SCARED TO DEATH of the American people recognizing them for what they are and LEAVING THEM. Roemer is a 68-year old grandfather, VERY successful businessman ($750 million bank that took NO bailout money and foreclosed on NO ONE), and a retired politician who had NO desire to get into politics, again- but he says the country is on the WRONG TRACK.

Our President and Congressional leaders are funded and steered by wealthy campaign donors who are profiting off our "Ponzi-scheme-like, financialized/Wall St. Investment Banker-led, Fed-Treasury-abetted" system and off of the "Global Economy" (short-term profits feeding off the American people as consumers, rather than producers). These elites (such as the big shots and owners of Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, GE, etc..) have made (and are continuing to make- "thanks to the FED loaning them $16.1 TRILLION, 2008-2010 -AND COUNTING- of zero-interest loans and the SEC-regulated FASB in April of '09 allowing them to MASSIVELY over-value their 'underwater' assets") HUGE profits off this "race to the bottom" which is making the "richest" (elites) get richer while the rest of us get "poorer" ("we'll end up like Mexico", if they continue to have their way).

Buddy Roemer is a former politician AND a successful banker, so he KNOWS the "games" these people use and HOW TO FIX AMERICA ("stop the corruption", "stop the financial greed", "put the banking and finance communities back on a 'short leash' and 'solid ground' " and "put America back to work- getting the capital back into production"). Of course, we’ll have to elect a Congress “worth a damn” and “STAY VIGILANT AND INVOLVED” !!!

I advise people that one, street-wise definition of "insanity" is to "keep doing the same thing and expect different results". We have been "bouncing back and forth" between these modern, "Wall Street Investment banker-financed", "free trade" globalist Republocrats and Demicans, now for twenty years (of course, the "mainstream", dinosaur media tells us, "they're the only realistic ones to choose from").

It's time to go "unconventional" and let "We The People" take over this country, again with a candidate like Andrew Jackson or Teddy Roosevelt. GO BUDDY !!!!

Buddy Roemer is the leading declared candidate at Americans Elect, right now. I recommend you check him out. He man grew up on a cotton farm, then went to Harvard at the age of 16 (!). He was a conservative, “bolweevil” Democrat who voted on Reagan’s side alot, so he was a natural to switch over to the Republican party (though, he came from what- at the time- was a HEAVILY Democratic state). Yet, in the “wild ‘n wooly world of 1991 Louisiana politics” the Republican voters nominated David Duke over sitting-governor Roemer (Duke, then lost to former gov. Edwards). Then, Edwards was sent to prison for criminal political activity- I’m guessing the voters statewide wished that they still had had Roemer.

Today, the “bought and paid for” Demican and Republocrat parties are SCARED TO DEATH of the American people recognizing them for what they are and LEAVING THEM.
