Obama picks Ft. Laud. magistrate for Miami federal judgeship

Robin S. Rosenbaum, a federal magistrate in Fort Lauderdale, was nominated by President Barack Obama Wednesday to serve as a U.S. District Court judge in Miami.

Rosenbaum, a magistrate since 2007, is a former South Florida federal prosecutor who clerked for federal appellate Judge Stanley Marcus.

She received her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and law degree from the University of Miami. If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Rosenbaum will replace U.S. District Judge Alan S. Gold, who is retiring to senior status.

Others competing for the federal bench vacancy were finalists Miami-Dade Circuit Judges Jerald Bagley and John Thornton, and federal Magistrate Judge John O’Sullivan.
